Concentric Circles

Idea

This started as a small experiment with a single Sensory trigger… but slowly evolved into a full song and new project / show concept.

Setup

This AV instrument includes:

• 3 playable concentric rings, each with their own chord and speed-adjustable melody sequencer

• Velocity controlled lead synth in drum center

• Snares on rim and rimshot

• Scene changes on BT-1 trigger

• Chopped bass notes spread over center and edge during break

All performed in real-time (no rendered video) and in one take (hence the “loose timing”)

This song is a series of manual clip scene changes in Ableton… so it allows for a nice balance between free play and structured sections.
